Welcome to Back-Up New Zealand

Back-Up New Zealand is a national charity which has been created specifically to offer people with disabilities the same outdoor pursuit opportunities as people without disabilities. Back-Up New Zealand Courses are used as a catalyst to break down barriers and push people out of their comfort zone, encouraging personal development and awareness.

Location

Back-Up New Zealand is based in Hawke’s Bay and organizes courses on throughout the North Island, making the most of the stunning outdoor opportunities that New Zealand has to offer.

Adventure Courses

Back-Up New Zealand offers adventure courses for anyone with a give-it-a-go attitude. Whether the courses are specific to one type of disability, a combination of disabilities, specifically planned for organizations or are a specialist skills course, a great effort is made to provide the ultimate learning and fun experience for all involved.

All Back-Up New Zealand courses are integrated. Each participant, whether disabled or non-disabled, will be facing their own challenges, be it a fear of heights, flipping in a canoe or meeting people with disabilities for the first time. The group will accomplish the tasks together as a team, each member supporting the others to overcome their anxieties.

Back-Up New Zealand is very proud to have rigorous standards of participant customer care. Coordinators and instructors are highly qualified, with international experience gained over years of working with outdoor adventure providers, specializing in adapting activities for people with varying abilities.
